Teacher Beliefs and Philosophies etc.

This week's readings really start to hit home, as well as stir something up in me.  There are many aspects to what I believe as a teacher as well as many variables that impact my philosophy.  Some of it comes from what I remember enjoying as a student growing up; a part comes from what you learn in college; and some from experience and the experience of those around me.

One thing from our reading that kind of stuck out, was a quote of teacher's taking it personally when someone does not like their teaching, even if the person critiquing likes you as a person, they may criticize a teaching practice/believe/philosophy of yours and it really hits your heart.

This week I got sucked into YouTube and watched many videos on teachers.  Many of them show (not always tell) what their beliefs are.  One thing I really liked about the Charlie Brown clip is that Linus feels so important to his teacher, like he REALLY matters.. I think this is really important in a classroom, among many other things. I think it is very important that student's know that their teacher cares about them.  There is a quote that goes something like, "They don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care."
